Future Leaders West
Ten lucky students from Royal Road School had the opportunity to attend Future Leaders, 2017. They were Erica Cai, London Haere Metuangaro, DC Crichton, Keith McLeod, Erima Tuita, Jade Rangihuna, Fay-Channel Tuare, D'Angelo Tupe, Loa Latu and Jack Shannon.
We learnt about many valuable characteristics that a leader should have including: leadership, support, communication, co-operation, trust, empowerment and Maori perspectives from six different stations.
One of those stations included Halberg Disability Foundation where we learnt to understand and accept people with disabilities. We also learnt medical aid from Healthy Families that could save someone’s life.
Together as a team we learned how to deal with different situations at every other station. The different people there supported us to do our best in what we were trying to achieve, and also helped us to connect to other leaders from our wider community.
